“Liminal” comes from the Latin limen, meaning threshold. It’s that break in space and time where the veil between this temporal life and the eternal is thin, where the most intense joy or deep sorrow leaves you changed and somehow makes room for peace inside the dissonance. And it’s also, quietly, what clay is for me — caught in its own threshold, between formless and formed, wet and dry, idea and object.
